Facts and stats
The Nike Phantom Venom Elite football boots were developed with the powerful striker in mind. Think Robert Lewandowski, Harry Kane, and Marcus Rashford whose scoring abilities strike fear into the hearts of goalkeepers. These football boots come with injected blades on the instep to improve control and add more spin to the ball when shooting. It also comes with Nike’s All Conditions Control (ACC) technology that provides consistent ball control no matter the weather conditions.
From the asymmetrical lacing system that expands the boot’s striking area to its foam pods that provide you with maximum plant foot stability, there are a lot of things going for the Nike Phantom Venom Elite that make it an interesting football boot for both newbie and seasoned finishers.
Fresh out of the box
Hailed as a successor to the Nike Hypervenom, the Nike Phantom Venom Elite sports a completely new design compared to its previous model. It still retains most of its roots that made the last model so successful like its Flyknit boot construction and a thick knitted upper that adds more stability when striking. The toe area is larger compared to the Hypervenom which provides more room for players with wider feet. We’re huge fans of the Victory Pack colourway that makes the football boot more striking in appearance.
The important stuff
Now let’s take a look at how the Nike Phantom Venom Elite performs by diving into the important details.
Touch – 8/10
The Nike Phantom Venom Elite is perfect for players who are looking for a modern football boot with good traction and a tight ball control. It’s made for high-pace acceleration and striking that enables you to zip past defenders and attack the goal post. The upper knit material provides a good ball touch which helps with players landing clean and powerful shots.
Control – 7/10
Thanks to the injection-moulded blades on the instep, the Nike Phantom Venom Elite produces an extra spin to the ball for making precision strikes and passes. The toe and vamp also features a honeycomb micro-texture for a more advanced ball control.
Passing – 7/10
There’s more to the Nike Phantom Venom Elite than just its striking prowess. The boot’s instep ridges allow for big-play passes down the field as well as close basic passing. You can also slip passes through tight defenses thanks to the boot’s bobbled toe box.
Shooting – 9/10
This area is where the Nike Phantom Venom Elite really shines. The boot’s strike zone is fused with the Flyknit upper that’s finished with a synthetic coating for maximum power transfer. When you hit the ball squarely on the strike zone, you’ll know you’ve hit it with convincing power and accuracy.
Fit – 8/10
Players with wide feet will find the Nike Phantom Venom Elite more comfortable than the Hypervenom due to its roomier toe box. It’s still narrower than wide so we recommend trying it out to learn whether you should size half up or down. As always with Flywire, you get an all-around snug fit as you tighten the laces. The Flywire is located down the sides of the boot which does give you a tight lockdown sensation for a more confident strike.
Soleplate – 9/10
The soleplate on the Nike Phantom Venom Elite features an aggressive stud pattern that strikes the perfect balance between strength and flexibility. The HyperReactive plate flexes in key areas to allow for consistent contact on the field and while making multi-directional turns. With an added triangular chassis, the boot provides a springy and responsive feel, even when making lateral cuts.
Value for money – 8/10
The Phantom Venom Elite is one of Nike’s top offerings in the power boot market and its price tag reflects that accordingly. It’s packed with plenty of features that can assist players in improving both their kick power and kick accuracy, making it a worthy successor to the hugely popular Hypervenom that Nike released back in 2013.
The Educator’s Opinion
For players who are looking for an aggressive football boot that matches their blitzing playstyle, the Nike Phantom Venom Elite football boots are worth taking a look at. With the injected strike zone element and its plethora of other features, you’re actually getting a steal of a football boot in terms of price versus performance. The fit and finish, the quality, and the overall value makes this football boot a well-rounded package for versatile strikers or all-out finishers.
The Nike Phantom Venom Elite retails at $170 and comes in a wide range of sizes from size 6 all the way up to size 13. The boot is available for a variety of field types such as Soft Ground (SG), Firm Ground (FG) or Artificial Ground (AG).
